According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Packers have added veteran running back Kenyan Drake to their practice squad. Drake, a 29-year-old speedster, had previously spent time on the practice squads of the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, and Cleveland Browns earlier this season. While with the Ravens this year, he appeared in two games but had limited opportunities, with just one carry and three targets (resulting in two receptions).
Drake's standout season came in 2020 when he was with the Arizona Cardinals, amassing 955 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 25 receptions for 137 receiving yards. He also achieved over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in 2018 and 2019, splitting time between the Miami Dolphins and the Cardinals.
Now, the Alabama product joins the Green Bay Packers, a team on a three-game winning streak, currently holding the NFC's final playoff spot with a 6-6 record. The Packers already have a dynamic rushing duo in A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones, so it remains to be seen how much playing time Drake will receive if he is promoted to the 53-man roster.
Throughout his career, Drake has accumulated 3,866 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns, along with 218 receptions for 1,655 receiving yards and eight rushing scores.
The Packers will aim to extend their winning streak to four games when they face the New York Giants on Monday night next week.
