BREAKING, Married Nike Executives Tragically Lose Lives in Bicycle Collision
A Portland couple met a tragic end during a bicycle ride in Napa Valley when they were hit by lumber that had dislodged from a passing truck, according to a report from the New York Post.
The incident claimed the lives of Christian and Michelle Deaton, both esteemed executives at Nike. They had been united in matrimony for 21 cherished years.
Further information from Oregon Live revealed:
«At the time of the accident on Tuesday morning, Christian Deaton, aged 52, was declared dead on-site. Michelle Deaton, aged 48, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she subsequently passed away," conveyed Napa County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Henry Woffard.
The duo were integral parts of the Nike team in Beaverton.
Elizabeth LeMay, a former colleague and friend of Christian Deaton at Nike, reflected, «The bond they shared was truly unique and profound. They were the kind of couple that you'd only encounter once in your life.» The 55-year-old truck driver reportedly remained at the site while authorities and emergency services arrived. It's yet to be determined if any charges will be pressed against him for the unfortunate event.
Expressing their sorrow, the trucking company commented, «We are heartbroken by this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Deaton family and their dear ones. Central Valley is actively collaborating with local authorities to piece together the events of that day and assist in the ongoing investigation.»
In a heartfelt message on Facebook, the Napa County Bicycle Coalition conveyed, «We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Michelle and Christian Deaton, who came from Portland, Oregon, and lost their lives in this tragic accident. The weight of this preventable tragedy weighs heavily on our community and fellow cyclists. We believe in a safe environment for all, and it's deeply disheartening that the Deatons couldn't experience that safety.»
Christian held the position of Vice President of Product and Merchandising at Nike Swim, while Michelle showcased her expertise as the Studio Design Director at Nike Accessories.
