Formerly the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Kliff Kingsbury has transitioned to the role of offensive coordinator for the Washington football team. Joining him is David Raih, who previously served as the Cardinals' receivers coach during Kingsbury's tenure in Arizona. Raih now assumes the position of tight ends coach for Washington.
In an announcement made by the team, it has been revealed that David Blough, a former player for the Cardinals, will be taking on the role of assistant quarterbacks coach for Washington. Blough notably started the final two games of the 2022 season for the Cardinals and was with them throughout the offseason and preseason of 2023. During the 2023 season, he spent most of his time on the practice squad of the Detroit Lions.
Throughout his NFL career, Blough started seven games, completing 57% of his passes for a total of 1,435 yards, with six touchdowns and nine interceptions. In 2022 alone, he completed 65.5% of his passes for 402 yards, throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Looking ahead, the Commanders are heavily favored to secure a new quarterback in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft as they strive to revitalize their franchise. Washington has not achieved a winning record since the 2016 season and has not won a playoff game since defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-10 in the 2005 NFC wild-card round.
