ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed on Monday that after receiving the green light from the Colts to explore trade opportunities, Taylor initiated the request for a move following discussions with owner Jim Irsay. However, the Bears, the team in question, seem to have their backfield set. With quarterback Justin Fields registering 1,143 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in the previous season alone, the need for Taylor doesn't seem pressing.
Moreover, the Bears boast two prominent rushers: Khalil Herbert, who racked up 731 yards last year under David Montgomery, and D'Onta Foreman, who achieved a personal best with 914 yards during his stint with the Carolina Panthers.
Given the Colts' steep trade demands for Taylor, the Bears' decision to forgo pursuing the 24-year-old makes strategic sense. In 2021, despite missing six games, Taylor led the NFL with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed 861 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and made 28 catches totaling 143 yards.
