BREAKING: Tennessee Titans Part Ways with Veteran Player After Multiple Practice Altercations
The Tennessee Titans have decided to waive offensive lineman Jamarco Jones following his involvement in several practice fights. According to Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official website, Jones was part of an incident during Thursday's practice that nearly sparked a brawl between players. This came just two days after he was engaged in a skirmish with star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.
The Thursday incident involved a blindside block on linebacker Chance Campbell, which received criticism from head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel expressed his dissatisfaction, emphasizing that such actions would result in penalties during an actual game.
Jones, originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round (168th overall) in 2018, spent four seasons with the team before joining the Titans in 2022 free agency. Unfortunately, he did not have an opportunity to play for the Titans last year due to an injury. Throughout his career, Jones played in 36 games with the Seahawks, making seven total starts.
Looking ahead to the 2023 season, the Titans made significant changes to their offensive line. They used their first-round pick (11th overall) to select Northwestern standout offensive lineman Peter Skoronski. This decision followed the release of veteran stalwart Taylor Lewan in a cap-saving move.
With these changes in place, the Titans' starting offensive line for the upcoming season is expected to feature Skoronski, Aaron Brewer, Jordan Ross, Nicholas Petit-Frere, and Andre Dillard. After experiencing their first losing season since 2015, the Titans are determined to bounce back and open their 2023 campaign with a road game against the New Orleans Saints on September 10.
