This comes despite his significant suspension last year for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, related to allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. "Deshaun has a natural ability to lead," said head coach Kevin Stefanski. "He's excelled at stepping up and allowing his teammates to shine, which is something he's done throughout his career. Despite the team's endorsement, fans are questioning the wisdom of naming Watson as a captain, given his controversial past. Last year, he served an 11-game suspension following accusations from over 20 women concerning sexual assault and misconduct during massage sessions. Watson has since settled 23 lawsuits, while two still remain active.
The actions led NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to label Watson's behavior as "predatory" and "egregious."
