As the Chicago Bears and Justin Fields gear up for a season that could be a turning point for the franchise, there's an air of expectation surrounding them. Fields, their perceived quarterback linchpin, was pivotal in their decision to trade away this year's first draft pick. The trade's bounty provided the Bears with a plethora of assets to fortify their roster.

With the franchise now boasting a more competitive line-up, Fields, the former Ohio State quarterback, finds himself under the glaring spotlight. However, Colin Cowherd, the radio host, isn't too enthused. He recently tagged Fields as a "bad quarterback".

During his show, 'Herd With Colin Cowherd', he offered this controversial assessment:

"A team that intrigues me, one on the cusp of an important decision, is the Chicago Bears. When franchises are unsure of their quarterback, blame gets tossed around. But remember, despite horrendous offensive lines, Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert shone almost immediately. The Bears' O-line last year was average, not abysmal. So, two years into Justin Fields' tenure, he's achieved a 59% completion rate, nearly equal numbers of interceptions and touchdowns, and an unimpressive passer rating. In my view, he's a subpar quarterback, especially with a dismal 1-8 record within the Division. The O-line is no catastrophe. They've nailed a few draft picks. Their tight ends and wide receivers, including Mooney, DJ Moore, Cole Kmet, and Robert Tonyan are first-rate talents. So, there's no room left for excuses."

Although Justin Fields has yet to set the NFL alight, Cowherd's indictment seems excessively critical. The young quarterback's performance last season, despite the lack of high-profile support, resonated positively with many.

Last season, Fields produced a respectable passer rating of 85.2, achieving 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions over 15 games. He also showcased his running prowess, accumulating 1,143 rushing yards on 160 carries and punching in eight rushing touchdowns.
