Leading up to the recent NFL Draft, sports pundits had their eyebrows raised over Carter's fitness. Despite the speculation, the Philadelphia Eagles remained unfazed. In a surprising move, the team traded up one position in the first round, securing the ex-Georgia defensive tackle with the ninth overall pick.
It's been a tumultuous time for Carter, who found himself entangled in legal disputes after being implicated in a tragic accident that led to the demise of a former Bulldogs teammate and a program staffer. Although the criminal case has concluded with a no-contest plea, he still faces a lawsuit from a grieving father seeking millions in damages.
Carter did appear less than impressive during his Pro Day activities earlier this year, but that was hardly an indication of him not being prepared for the upcoming Organized Team Activities (OTAs).
A recent video emerged showing Carter diligently training, and his physical condition looks undeniably impressive. You can take a look at the footage below: Philadelphia's head coach, Nick Sirianni, earlier this month did admit that both Jalen and his teammates were not in peak shape for the season, but that didn't seem to faze him.
As Sirianni put it, «Today was not about evaluating their conditioning level. Rather, it was about getting them out there. The coaches' focus should be on protecting the players while still gearing up for the game. Their bodies aren't yet game-ready."
As the Eagles look to bounce back from a near miss at the Super Bowl this year, they're banking on Carter to bolster their chances in 2024. However, they face what is considered the most challenging schedule in the forthcoming season.
