We all expect the Bears to switch to a 4-3 defense instead of the 3-4 with the arrival of Matt Eberflus. With that being said, the Bears will need to find a "3 technique" defensive linemen.

The 3 Technique is the defensive pre-snap position where the defensive linemen position themselves on the outside shoulder of the offensive guard. In other words, a 3 technique defensive lineman aligns between the offensive guard and tackle.

It is one of the most important positions on your defense because this player is the true anchor against the run game. In addition, if the player who plays this position happens to be a great pass rusher, he can create some incredible mismatches on the inside.

Larry Ogunjobi could be the one to fill this role. He is one of the NFL's most dominant players at this position and he happens to be a free agent. He suffered a season-ending right foot injury during the wild-card round of the playoffs. However, every report we have heard is that his recovery is going along very nicely and he will be ready for training camp for certain.

Ogunjobi had 49 tackles and seven sacks in 16 games for the Bengals in 2021. With all the money they have invested in their defensive line:

-Trey Hendrickson (4-years, $60 million)-DJ Reader (4-years, $53 million)-Sam Hubbard (4-years, $40 million)

We don't expect the Bengals to offer him a long-term deal this offseason. This means that he will probably play with a new team in 2022. Hopefully, this team is the Chicago Bears.
