The Bears went out with the old and in with the new this offseason � whether that's the front office, coaches or players. And in a new offense led by offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, Mooney is looking to be even more involved. There's a focus on making the third-year WR more dynamic in alignment, "going from outside to the slot, on the ball to off the ball and sending him in motion before the snap."
Mooney, by all indications, has been one of the most impressive players at Camp. Well, it looks like he is trying to build on that and he wants to be involved more than usual for the Bears' first pre-season game this Saturday.
Typically, starters don't play much � perhaps a series or two.
His reasoning for wanting to play more? He wants to get a feel for how offensive coordinator Luke Getsy calls his plays and ultimately get back into a true, live-game rhythm, which is something you don't have in practice.
HC Matt Eberflus told the reporters last week that the starters would play in the preseason opener. While we don't know how many reps they'll ultimately receive, one could assume that they won't play a whole lot more than a series or two...
