Many Bears fans have grown frustrated with Luke Getsy's conservative playcalling when the team takes a lead. In such situations, Getsy appears to adopt a "prevent offense" approach, which has cost the team dearly in losses to the Broncos, Lions, and Browns. His reluctance to be aggressive, especially in the fourth quarter during a loss to New Orleans, has raised concerns among both fans and players.

Darnell Mooney and D.J. Moore, in particular, expressed their displeasure with the team's performance. Mooney remarked that the team became too comfortable in the third quarter, emphasizing the need for continued aggressiveness and not letting up when ahead. Moore echoed this sentiment, noting a lull in the third quarter and emphasizing the importance of avoiding such situations against strong defenses.

While neither receiver directly blamed Getsy, it was clear that the offense needed better motivation and execution. Getsy struggled to find answers against a Cleveland defense plagued by injuries. Several key plays, including penalties, a failed third-and-3 attempt, and a fourth-and-1 stop, contributed to the offensive struggles. These issues have become a pattern for Getsy's offense when the Bears hold a lead.

The Bears have only three games left to address these problems, whether through changes in strategy or personnel. The coaching staff, including Getsy, is under scrutiny, and if the situation doesn't improve, it could have consequences for the team's future.

After the Bears took a 17-7 lead in the third quarter, their offensive performance declined significantly:

1. Three plays, nine negative yards (resulting in a punt)2. Seven plays, 32 yards (turnover on downs)3. Three plays, six yards (resulting in a punt)4. Six plays, 14 yards (resulting in a punt)5. Three plays, two negative yards (resulting in a punt)6. Five plays, 30 yards (resulting in a Hail Mary interception to end the game)

Most of these plays resulted in no gain or negative yardage, which put considerable pressure on the defense. While the defense has faced criticism for the loss, Getsy's inability to keep the offense on the field and gain yardage on first-and-10 plays has also been a significant issue.

This level of inconsistency typically reflects poorly on the coaching staff rather than the players. While the players are not directly blaming Getsy, they are not willing to be scapegoats either. They acknowledge that three-and-outs are a glaring issue that needs to be addressed.

Even Matt Eberflus, the head coach, was critical of the playcalling, emphasizing the need for sustained drives and better execution, especially in crucial situations.

With the Bears favored by 4.5 points over the struggling Arizona Cardinals in their upcoming game, Eberflus may need to secure at least two wins in the remaining three games to salvage his job. However, for Getsy, the situation might already be too late for redemption unless a miracle turnaround occurs.
