The Chicago Bears appear disjointed, and it seems inevitable that the coaching staff will soon face the heat.

In a tumultuous week marked by communication blunders and internal chaos that led to the resignation of defensive coordinator Alan Williams due to "questionable conduct," according to ESPN, the Bears suffered a staggering 41-10 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs on their turf.

Jacob Infante of WCGridiron voiced his concerns on social media on Sunday, September 24, questioning the rationale behind retaining head coach Matt Eberflus. He commented, «The #Bears have historically refrained from midseason coach dismissals. Yet, if Matt Eberflus remains after being [34-0] down by halftime and boasting a 3-17 track record over 20 matches, what signal does that send to the loyal supporters and players? It's sheer negligence."

Brendan Sugrue of The Bears Wire echoed this sentiment, juxtaposing the Eberflus era with previous, less successful coaching tenures in Chicago, only to conclude that the current leadership is even more lackluster. Sugrue highlighted fan grievances, stating, «This is reminiscent of the Trestman phase.' Feels like the Nagy-era Bears.' However, even during those times, the team had competitive phases. Eberflus is on track to hit 3-17, which indicates an unprecedented decline."

Jonathan Wood from Da Bears Blog noted that since Ryan Poles took over as the Bears' GM two years ago, significant resources have been invested in the defensefour high draft picks and sizable contracts for five defensive free agents.

Addressing this, Aaron Leming of 247 Sports and SB Nation remarked on the team's deteriorating performance despite these additions. Leming observed, "It's challenging to envision Matt Eberflus navigating through this season unless there's a dramatic turnaround. The team appears even more outmatched this year, despite having a theoretically improved roster. #Bears"

Collectively, the Bears have conceded 106 points in three matches, averaging a disheartening 35.33 points per defeat. The average defeat margin in their 0-3 start hovers around 20 points. Their defense has managed a meager single sack throughout the season.

However, the struggles aren't limited to the defense. Justin Fields, as of Sunday, ranked 24th amongst 32 NFL quarterbacks based on Pro Football Focus (PFF) advanced statistics. He concluded Sunday's game with a 11-of-22 passing record for 99 yards, scoring one touchdown and one interception.

Further compounding their woes, the Bears' offensive line, which was already ranked 30th out of 32 teams, conceded three more sacks and five hits on Fields. Running duo Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson amassed only 69 yards in 15 runs, with Herbert also committing a fumble.

Next on their schedule, the Bears will square off against the equally struggling Denver Broncos (0-3) on Sunday, October 1, at Soldier Field.
