Carr, who once said that he would rather retire then play for another team, was released after the 2022 season.
Even after being a dedicated member to this organization, drama appeared, especially when he was benched, which caused him to step away from the team.

In an interview with Fresno Bee's Anthony Galaviz, Carr opened up his benching and release. He told Anthony that once he was benched, it became clear to him that it was time to move on. Carr goes on to explain how upset he still is with the team, as after 9 years with an organization he felt hurt by them. Carr explains:
Going into the 2023 season, Carr is excited to begin new chapter with the Saints, but he will always cheer for his former teammates.
