ESPN Analyst Affirms Luke Getsy's Commitment to Justin Fields as Bears' Future Quarterback
The Chicago Bears have been thorough in their search for a quarterback heading into the NFL draft. They have scouted potential picks, interviewed players, and analyzed their abilities. However, according to ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, they have no plans to select any of the quarterbacks they've studied.
Riddick shared a conversation he had with Luke Getsy, who was attending Bryce Young's Pro Day in Alabama, on the Waddle & Silvy show on ESPN 1000. When Riddick asked if they were looking at quarterbacks, Getsy replied,
Riddick supported Getsy's sentiment about Justin Fields, and most Bears fans likely share the same view. The team has already begun building around Fields on the offensive side. General manager Ryan Poles traded for DJ Moore, signed right guard Nate Davis, and added depth to the running back room with D'Onta Foreman and Travis Homer.
During end-of-season press conferences, Poles stated that he would only draft a quarterback if he was "blown away." With the marginal differences between the top quarterback prospects, such as Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis, the Bears are expected to focus on strengthening their offensive and defensive lines or addressing other positional needs.
Most experts predict that the Bears will target the trenches with the No. 9 pick. The only question is whether they will pass on Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, or if he's unavailable, consider the top offensive line prospects or trading down.
Despite any uncertainties, the Bears remain committed to Fields, who is expected to have a breakout season in his third year in the league. The team's focus is to continue building around him, protect him, and provide him with weapons to succeed.
