On Sunday, Chicago Bears fans may witness not only the potential final home game for quarterback Justin Fields but also the likely departure of beleaguered offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who could be calling his last game in front of the Soldier Field faithful.

As Bears supporters continue to debate the factors contributing to Fields' developmental challenges, it appears increasingly probable that the team will opt for a new direction, possibly selecting a highly touted prospect like USC's Caleb Williams or UNC's Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft. If the Carolina Panthers lose this Sunday, the Bears will secure the first overall pick in the draft for the second consecutive year.

One immediate candidate for the vacant position could be Frank Reich, the former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and Matt Eberflus's former boss. Reich, known for his quarterback development prowess, played a pivotal role in Carson Wentz's potential MVP season in Philadelphia and guided Nick Foles to success during the Eagles' Super Bowl-winning campaign. During his tenure with the Colts, Reich faced quarterback challenges, making the most of a solid running game to compensate for inconsistencies in the passing game. With a 40-33 record and two playoff appearances in five seasons, Reich shares a vision with Eberflus on how an offense should be structured. The Bears also possess the necessary components to execute Reich's preferred zone-based rushing attack.

Another candidate is Brian Griese, a familiar name to older Bears fans who remember him as the backup quarterback to Rex Grossman. Griese, son of the legendary Miami Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese, spent 13 seasons as a prominent college analyst and commentator on Monday Night Football before transitioning to become the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback coach in March 2022. Griese's coaching has garnered attention, notably for his work with Brock Purdy, who went from Mr. Irrelevant to a national sensation with MVP considerations.

Ken Dorsey presents a polarizing option due to his unremarkable tenure in Buffalo. Before becoming an offensive coordinator, Dorsey served as the quarterbacks coach responsible for developing Josh Allen. After an NFL career that followed a standout collegiate stint at Miami, Dorsey worked as a quarterbacks coach for the Carolina Panthers from 2013 to 2017 before joining the Buffalo Bills in the same capacity from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, Dorsey was promoted to offensive coordinator but was later dismissed in favor of Joe Brady after a slow start to the 2023 season.

Despite his recent challenges, Dorsey remains an appealing choice for quarterbacks coach should Getsy and his staff be replaced after the 2023 season. He has experience guiding quarterbacks to success, including Cam Newton's 2015 MVP campaign and his work alongside Brian Daboll in developing Josh Allen. Dorsey could be a valuable addition to groom a rookie quarterback.
