Since the firing, the Bears have interviewed; Seahawks OC Shane Waldron, 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak, Seahawks QB coach Greg Olson, and former Ravens OC Greg Roman.
After these candidates were announced, former Bears QB Chase Daniel tweeted out which coach he would want the Bears to hire as their next OC:
As seen, Daniel says that the Bears should hire Roman, and that he would work perfectly with QB Justin Fields.
From 2019-2022, Roman was the OC for the Ravens, and was apart of QB Lamar Jackson's growth and rise to success. In Roman's first season as the OC, Jackson went on to be named as a Pro Bowler, a First-Team All-Pro, and the NFL MVP, with Roman even getting a ton of praise as he was named as the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year in that same season.
Roman works very well with a mobile QBs, and like Jackson, Fields is known to be a rushing QB.
Fields has a great arm with great accuracy, but the most impressive part about him is his footwork, speed, and vision. Fields is great at getting out of tackles and gaining many yards on the ground. However, Getsy was never able to figure out a proper game plan for someone like Fields, but based on Roman's time with Jackson, we could see something special with him and Fields.
