Falcons RB and former Chicago Bears Cordarrelle Patterson is undergoing a minor procedure on his knee. The expectation is that he's back sooner than later. However, the fact that he was put on IR means he'll miss at least four games.

This is a tough blow for the Falcons as Patterson was playing extremely well so far this season. In fact, the 31-year-old had 348 yards and three touchdowns on 58 carries. That's a 5.8-yards-per-carry clip as the team's primary runner.

He was dealing with his injury last week and played through it despite serious pain. While this is not an easy choice for him and the team to make right in the middle of the season, it was the smart choice.

We wish him a speedy recovery.
