Byrd first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, but was able to secure a roster spot while with the Panthers from 2015-2018.
Since leaving the Panthers after the 2018 season, Byrd has bounced around to several different teams, including the Bears ahead of the 2021 season. Though only making 4 starts, Byrd was apart of the team for the entire season, finishing with 26 catches for 329 yards, along with 1 touchdown.
Now, as a free agent, Byrd is signing with the Texans, who are heading to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs this weekend. The Texans made this signing after it was revealed that WR Noah Brown will be out of the remainder of the playoffs due to several injuries, so the team is bringing Byrd in as a possible replacement.
