After an amazing NFL debut in the Bears preseason game number 2, fans have been buzzing about Bagent. He went 9/10 on passing and scored a rushing touchdown as well. He only went into the game because backup QB PJ Walker was playing horribly, and now, the spot for QB2 is up in the air.
When looking back at the NFL draft, Bagent went undrafted and then signed with the Bears. It looks like the reason why he went undrafted is not because of his skills, but because of his school.
Most NFL players go to a D1 school, but Bagent found himself playing at a D2 school, at Shepherd University. In his freshman year, Bagent was already the starting QB, and found himself to be putting up unreal numbers.
In 53 games played in college, Bagent finished with a 33-10 record, 17,034 passing yards, and a total of 171 touchdowns. He also found himself breaking NCAA records, such as the record for touchdown passes. He is also a 2 First-team DII All-American, 2 PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year, and won the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2021.
Bagent could be considered to be one of the best college QBs, but, because he went to a D2 school, his name is forgotten.
Bagent has a lot of potential of being a superstar in the NFL, but for the time being, he will be the perfect backup QB for the Bears.
