Oher recently filed a 14-page petition in Shelby County, Tennessee, accusing Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy of tricking him into a conservatorship and capitalizing on his life story, which was the basis for the 2009 film "The Blind Side," according to ESPN's Michael A. Fletcher.
In a statement to WVTM 13's Riley Conlon, Freeze suggested that a heartfelt conversation between Oher and the Tuohys could help resolve the issue:
"I'm aware of it: If Michael called Sean right now and said, 'let's work this out,' I'm confident that Sean and Leigh Anne would rush to embrace him and reassure him of their love. I hope he knows that. I can't presume to understand everyone's circumstances, and I certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but I believe whatever is meant to happen, will. The facts will emerge, and I hold both sides dear to my heart."
He continued, "It's disheartening, really. I won't pretend to fully grasp the intricacies of adoption or conservatorship, but what I saw was a family that wholly embraced a young man, and I think without that, there would be no story to tell."
Oher's journey to the NFL was prominently featured in Michael Lewis' 2006 book "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game," which inspired the film of the same name, with Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne, Tim McGraw as Sean, and Quinton Aaron portraying Oher.
The Baltimore Ravens selected Oher as the 23rd overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played a pivotal role in the team's Super Bowl 47 victory in the 2012 season. Oher later joined the Tennessee Titans for a season in 2014 and the Carolina Panthers for two seasons, 2015 and 2016.
