Here's Why DeAndre Hopkins Signing with the Titans was a BAD Move.
As reported by Ian Rapoport, WR DeAndre Hopkins signed a a 2-year, $26M deal worth up to $32M with incentives with the Tennessee Titans.
Since the news broke, fans and analysts have been making their predictions and giving their opinions, and many, including me, see this signing as a bad move if Hopkins wants a Super Bowl ring.
Hopkins was drafted in 2013, and played for the Texans until being traded to the Cardinals before the 2020 season. After a disappointing 2022 season, the Cardinals released Hopkins, and finally, Hopkins found his new home.
Many rumours revealed that Hopkins was also interested in the Patriots and Chiefs, both who look to be better fits...
If Hopkins signed with the Patriots, then he would be playing under the greatest coach of all time. That franchise knows how to win, and even though Mac Jones is young and still learning, we could be seeing him as an elite QB soon.
And when thinking about the Chiefs, that would have been the perfect spot for Hopkins. If he truly wants to win a Super Bowl, how do you not sign with the reigning champs? Not to mention, having Patrick Mahomes as your QB sounds like a dream, but I guess they were not willing to offer a high price.
Now, looking at this Titans team, there is not much positivity. For starters, there has been a common theme of star WRs joining the team, but only showing disappointment. Some of the GOAT's, such as; Randy Moss, Julio Jones, and Andre Johnson all joined the Titans, but it was where their career ended.
If history repeats itself, this will be where Hopkins finishes his career, but not being seen as a star. Like those other WRs, Hopkins does not have a star QB, which will greatly affect his performance.
Only time will tell, but right now, it looks like Hopkins made the wrong decision.
