There are other spots to be filled on defense, so the Bears should pursue linebacker Melvin Ingram.
Ingram is a vet in today's game. He was drafted back in 2012, and at the age of 34, he is looking for a new home. Ingram spent most of his career playing for the Chargers, but since the 2021 season, he has been bouncing around teams.
Ingram's best years were with the Chargers, as during his time there, he was a 3-time Pro Bowler, and had 2 seasons with 10.5 sacks. Fans may be worried about singing him due to him having a rough couple of seasons in recent years, with injuries being apart of them. However, we saw some new light in him last season, as he had his best year since 2019.
In 2019, he earned himself 7 sacks, while after that, he only had 2 sacks combined in 3 seasons. Last season, we saw a new fire in him, as he earned himself 6 sacks with only 3 starts all year.
Ingram is showcasing that even with a bad couple of seasons, he can bring back his star quality, even if it means not starting every game. He clearly puts his all in every snap, and is someone the Bears need in terms of experience and leadership.
