ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggests that if the Philadelphia Eagles, who hold the No. 10 pick, don't select Carter, his fall would likely end there. None of the scouts or executives believe Carter will drop out of the top 10.
Carter was once in contention to be the first defensive player chosen in the draft. However, following charges of racing and reckless driving, his position has slipped somewhat. Despite this, teams are still excited about Carter's potential in the NFL.
The Bears, in particular, could benefit from Carter's talents. Chicago's defense was among the league's worst last season, ranking 29th in total defense and allowing 375.9 yards per game. The Bears' run defense was even worse, ranking 31st and conceding 157.3 yards per game on the ground.
During his tenure at Georgia, Jalen Carter proved to be a powerful force. Over three years, he accumulated 83 tackles 18.5 for loss six sacks, and two forced fumbles. In 2022, he earned unanimous All-American and First-team All-SEC honors. With the No. 9 overall pick, the Bears hope that Carter will be available after the Seahawks make their selection at No. 5. If he is, many in the NFL believe Chicago won't hesitate to draft the former Georgia star.
