Is it a good idea for the bears to trade up for Garrett Wilson?

The new Bears' GM has a lot of tasks in front of him. One of the most important ones is to get some great weapons around Justin Fields. When you have a young, talented quarterback like him, you have got to surround him with all the help you can. It starts with having a solid offensive line in front of him. After, you must find some guys that can catch the ball he is throwing.

Now, I know the bears don't have a lot of draft capital. I am certain that all the Bears fans will mention it in the comments. However, I will go on a limb and say that Ohio State's receiver Garrett Wilson is a truly generational talent. If Ryan Poles could make some magic happen by trading future picks or even some older veterans and somehow make his way back in the first round, it would be so worth it. Again, I am aware that this might be a stretch to ask the Bears to move up to a top 15 pick where we expect Wilson to end up being drafted. It is not impossible, though.

Most of you are not aware of this but, I have played football for 12 years of my life. I was a receiver for all those years, and I played division 1 college football before I pursued other things in my life. If there is one thing that I am sure about is that Garrett Wilson is a can't miss prospect. He has abilities that I have rarely and maybe even never seen from a prospect.

Wilson was a very productive player at The Ohio State University. However, when you put on the tape, he was even more dominant than what the stats showed. He literally has all the tools you want in a receiver. He has a good enough size. He can run amazing routes. He creates so much separation at the top of his routes. You rarely see him getting cover. On the very few rare occasions that he was not open, he made some ridiculous catches in traffic. He can high point the ball like no other receiver in college football. On top of that, he is a true «hands catcher». That is a really important aspect of playing the receiver position. You have some receivers in the league that are great, but they are not natural hands catchers. One example of that is, Chiefs' wide receiver Tyreek Hill. What that tends to create is some drops when the ball bounces on the players' chest. Wilson is the definition of a «hands catcher». In addition to that, the Texas native is extremely fast. He should run under 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash and trust me, his game speed is even better. He has the ability to turn a 5-yard slant into an 80-yard touchdown on any given play.

If Ryan Poles were to somehow manage a way to grab him and pair him with his former quarterback Justin Fields, this duo could be a league wrecking one for years to come.
