Haters gonna hate. With Chicago having arguably one of the best draft classes this year, trading up to 11 picks for the largest draft class in 14 years. Naturally, our savior Ryan Poles was going to feel some jealousy from other GMs. Poles wants to fill the roster with as much young talent as possible, and he has done just that.
Some people say he crushed it while others felt underwhelmed, Poles couldn't care less what the critics have to say.
«WHAT WAS COOL WAS THAT WITH VELUS JONES JR. AND ACTUALLY, A COUPLE OF THE PLAYERS, AND PEOPLE I KNOW ON DIFFERENT TEAMS TEXTED ME THAT THEY WERE UPSET THAT WE TOOK THEIR GUY. IT'S CONFIRMATION THAT YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT PATH. IT JUST MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD IN TERMS OF WHERE YOU HAD THE PLAYER ON YOUR BOARD AS WELL AS THAT YOU SAW THE TALENT THAT OTHER PEOPLE SAW TOO.»
When we get upset that's one thing, but when people in the league that do this 365 days a year are mad that's when you know you crushed it. Poles did what Ryan Pace couldn't, he diversified his picks, trusted his scouts, and followed his gut. Granted our scouts are now being sent to slaughter for shiny new ones, but still, the man knows what he's doing. The long-term solution is the way to go, and we will see how everything plays out over the next couple of seasons.
