(ROQUAN SMITH)
He is already an elite linebacker. At times I would wonder how would it have been if he would have been in Lovie Smith's defense and now we finally get to see a variation of it. I believe that Roquan Smith will continue to live up to his nickname the "Montezuma Missile". I believe that he will blow backfields up and I believe that he will set the entire defense on fire in the next few years. This is what ChicagoBears.com posted in the interview with Roquan Smith
"After thriving in 3-4 schemes coordinated by Vic Fangio (2018), Chuck Pagano (2019-20) and Sean Desai (2021), Smith is excited about transitioning to a 4-3 system under new coach Matt Eberflus and defensive coordinator Alan Williams.
"I think it'll be great," Smith said. "More opportunities to make some plays, so I think that'll be big, even though I was making plays before. It's just going to be sweet and everybody just running to the ball.
"It's just more so about everyone having fun, not just me having fun and having a breakthrough season. I know what I can do. Everyone, if they watch the game, knows what I can do. Things don't change overnight."
This sounds pretty progressive to me. I salivate at the idea of everyone running to the ball as they did in Lovie's era and this would seem to open more opportunities for Bo Jack (Eddie Jackson) to get back to his original playmaking self. Time will tell, but right now the hand of the clock is going forward and the times seem to be changing for the better!
