Bears quarterback Justin Fields marked his return to the lineup last Sunday after a four-game absence due to a dislocated right thumb.

Fields displayed no signs of rust in his comeback, delivering a strong performance both in the passing game (completing 16 of 23 attempts for 169 yards and a touchdown) and on the ground (carrying the ball 18 times for 104 yards). He showcased glimpses of his potential as the team's future franchise quarterback, something he aims to harness further in the remaining six games of the season.

With Fields back in action, wide receiver DJ Moore regained his rhythm, leading the team with seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown.

The synergy between Fields and Moore was evident, highlighted by an impressive 39-yard touchdown pass that propelled Chicago into the lead during the third quarter. Fields made amends for an earlier play where he had slightly overthrown Moore.

"When I released the ball, I had a feeling it might be a bit overthrown, like two yards too far," Fields commented. "I just told DJ, 'If we run that play again, I won't miss you this time, so be prepared.' It materialized, and we connected for a touchdown."

That 39-yard touchdown encapsulates what Fields aims to incorporate more into the offense: an increased emphasis on downfield passing.

"To be honest, I believe that deep balls, in general, are one of my strengths," Fields stated. "I think I excel at throwing the ball downfield. It's something I've been doing since high school and college. It's one of my best attributes, and I believe it's a facet of our game that we'll continue to emphasize and explore further."

Fortunately, Fields has a top-tier WR1 capable of hauling in those deep passes.
