Tropical Storm Hilary, which made landfall in Mexico's Baja California peninsula on Sunday, brought "catastrophic and life-threatening flooding" to the area. The storm was predicted to impact parts of California, yet the Los Angeles Chargers proceeded with their preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. The decision to go ahead with the game despite the storm's approach raised concerns, especially as rain began to leak through the roof of the billion-dollar SoFi Stadium.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency on Saturday in anticipation of Hilary's arrival. The storm is predicted to be the first tropical storm to strike Southern California in 84 years. Holding a football game amidst these circumstances could further complicate the situation if flooding occurs and thousands of attendees are trapped.

The Chargers and Saints conducted joint practices in Costa Mesa during the week leading up to their Sunday night preseason game. New Orleans' team arrived in L.A. on Wednesday for the joint sessions and is scheduled to fly back home after the game, according to NOLA.com.

As the storm approaches, everyone hopes that the situation will unfold without any issues.
