However, Alexander's base salary this year will be $1.076 million to get his cap number as low as possible this season. This is actually a pretty solid deal by the Packers. The deal, which is now done and finalized, makes the Pro Bowl CB the highest-paid at his position.
Nonetheless, this is a risky deal since Alexander has been struggling with injuries in the past. In fact, he appeared in just four games in 2021 due to a shoulder injury. He did, however, play in the playoffs game against the 49ers.
Alexander earned his first Pro Bowl berth in 2020 and got off to a good start in 2021, but he injured his shoulder and Week 4 and sat out the next 13 games. This is an example that if you want to keep your stud players, you need to be ready to pay the big bucks.
