The Chicago Bears made a significant move when they traded last season's No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers. Their intention was to provide Justin Fields with another opportunity to showcase his abilities, all while retaining the Panthers' first-round pick for this year.
This strategy has paid off as Fields performed well enough to earn himself another chance elsewhere, while the Panthers secured the top overall pick once again.
Now, it appears highly likely that the Bears will select USC standout Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick. However, they could still receive valuable assets in exchange for Fields.
According to NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper, the possibility exists that the Bears could acquire the Atlanta Falcons' No. 8 selection in exchange for the Ohio State product, as reported on ESPN 1000.
Kiper expressed, "If you were to trade Justin Fields to Atlanta, you could potentially acquire the 8th overall pick." This scenario would allow the Bears to possess the No. 1, No. 8, and No. 9 picks, potentially enabling them to trade down one of those selections to regain a second-round pick.
At first glance, this may appear ambitious, considering the Bears originally selected Fields with the No. 11 pick. Nevertheless, the Falcons are in search of a quarterback to bolster their contention hopes, and Fields, as a hometown player seemingly well-suited for their roster, could make for an appealing trade option.
