Caleb Williams has been dubbed the "next Patrick Mahomes" by some talent evaluators, but former NFL running back Merril Hoge vehemently disagrees with this comparison.

Hoge, known for his role on ESPN's "NFL Matchup," recently shared his thoughts on Williams during an interview with NBC Chicago, offering a blunt assessment.

"It's clear: He is not special," Hoge asserted. "He lacks the uniqueness of a Patrick Mahomes, and I hope the Bears don't make the mistake of trying to replicate their past by pursuing the 'next' Patrick Mahomes. This kid is not in the same league as Mahomes, not even close."

Hoge further emphasized that the Bears should stand by Justin Fields at quarterback, highlighting his progress. Contrary to rumors, ESPN insider Adam Schefter expects the Bears to select Williams with their top draft pick and dispelled the notion that Williams opposes playing for Chicago.

With a potentially franchise-altering decision looming for the Bears, the quarterback situation remains a focal point of anticipation.
