NFL Analyst Reveals Potential Future for Bears WRs Chase Claypool & Darnell Mooney

Even though we are still so early on in the season, Bears fans, analysts, and people on Twitter are already thinking about the future, but hey, can you blame them?

After starting off 0-3 so far, and being the laughing stock of the NFL, thinking about the future is probably better for Bears fans mental health.

Bears WRs Chase Claypool and Darnell Mooney's rookie contracts will be expiring before the 2024 season, and NFL analyst Jacob Infante believes that it would be best for the Bears to not re-sign them:

In 3 games, Claypool has a total of 4 catches for 51 yards, along with 1 TD. Similar stat line is shown for fellow WR, Mooney

In 3 games this season, Mooney has made only 4 catches for a total of 53 yards, along with 1 TD, all in the season opener. After week 1, Mooney has been nowhere to be found, and has only been targeted on 1 throw since.

Both of these WRs were expected to be playmakers on the Bears, but their 4th season in the NFL has been looking like a letdown.

All the blame is certainly not going on them, as Justin Fields has looked lost out there, so I understand why these 2 guys are not getting the ball. However, recent years also show why it might be time to move on from them.

Claypool was traded to the team during the 2022 season, and was a disappointment from the jump. It was then revealed that some of his teammates did not like him, as well as the front office. Claypool seemed to be unmotivated and simply lazy.

Then when looking at Mooney, we do not see him as unmotivated or lazy, but we do see someone whose production has declined. In 2021, Mooney caught 81 passes for 1,055 yards, but after that season, he hasn't looked too solid. Last year, Mooney only made 40 catches along with 493 yards, an obvious large decline in numbers.

Both of these WRs have potential, but maybe they are just not the right fit with this Bears team.
