NFL Analyst Reveals Potential Landing Spot this Offseason for Current Bears WR Darnell Mooney

Since his arrival, Mooney has been a solid member to the organization, but was expected to have a career year this past season.

However, this season was a disappointment to many players on the Bears, especially Mooney.

Mooney had a career low in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, all while starting in 14 of the 15 games he played. He was expected to have his breakout year, but due to his underwhelming stats, the team was not impressed.

With his 4th year in the NFL coming to an end, that also means that his rookie contract is about to expire. With this season now almost being officially over, the Bears are likely to not re-sign him, making him a free agent.

In a new article from NFL analyst/PFF writer Brad Spielberger, he listed potential spots for the 2024 free agents, and revealed that he believes Mooney will sign with the either the Chiefs or Chargers:

Both of these landing spots make sense, as though the Chiefs will be in the Super Bowl in under 2 weeks, they have noticeably struggled with their WR core this past season. Adding Mooney, for likely a cheap price, will bring in a new weapon for Patrick Mahomes.

And, while looking at the Chargers, this also looks like a great fit. The Chargers are currently the hottest team right now, as after hiring HC Jim Harbaugh, there is a new energy to that organization. Not to mention, Justin Herbert is destined to have a standout season in 2024 as he now has a coach that knows how to win. Mooney could become a crucial player on an offense like this.
