In an interview with ESPN, Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry stated that he believes Poles will have success with the Bears. Berry said:
Poles has made some shocking moves so far in his role, such as trading away stars like Khalil Mack, Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn. Though fans were shocked in the moment, it seems to be working out well.
Poles' NFL playing career was over before it started. After spending his college football days playing with NFL QB Matt Ryan, Poles went undrafted in the 2008 draft, and was a practice squad member for the Bears for a short time.
After being cut by the Bears in 2008, Poles moved on, and even contemplated working in marketing, and saying goodbye to football forever. However, he stayed involved with football, and soon became a scout for several years. He then moved on to become a director of player personnel for a couple more years, and now, he is an NFL GM.
Not only are Bears' fans rooting for Poles, but so are other NFL GM's. Poles plays a risky game, which NFL execs respect. They see a guy putting his all into changing this organization, and they believe he will. Taking these risks show his dedication, and though many may doubt him, Poles will prove himself.
The 2023 season is very important for Poles, and if we see any improvement in the team, then everyone will be calling him a genius!
