This past week, many ESPN analysts gave their predictions for this upcoming offseason, in regards to trades, free agency, the draft, etc. and one insider made an interesting prediction on the Bears:

2024 NFL offseason: Key free agents, draft notes, predictions

According to NFL insider Aaron Schatz, he believes that the Bears will pursue Buccaneers superstar WR Mike Evans during the offseason:

"The Bears will use the No. 1 pick on a new quarterback and invest in that quarterback by signing Mike Evans, one of the top free agent wide receivers. Evans has 10 straight 1,000-yard seasons and would pair nicely with DJ Moore in this offense"
- Schatz wrote.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Evans was eyeing a large extension deal to stay with the Buccaneers, and gave the team until week 1 of the season to show their offer. However, the Bucs never sent him an offer, meaning that Evans will be a free agent this offseason.

The Bears are looking for a fresh start this upcoming season, and are looking for someone who can play alongside DJ Moore. Though the WR draft class is looking strong this year, the Bears may miss out on selecting a WR early on if they decide to keep their first pick and draft QB Caleb Williams.

Right now, the WR core on the Bears is sloppy, minus Moore obviously. Guys like Darnell Mooney, Tyler Scott, and Velus Jones Jr. were disappointments this past season, and the team needs someone out there catching the ball other than Moore.

Though many mock drafts predict that the Bears can draft a WR with their 9th overall selection, Schatz believes that the Bears would have a better chance with the veteran.

Evans is superstar, no doubt about that. He is a 5-time Pro Bowler, a 2-time All-Pro, the NFL receiving touchdowns co-leader this past season, and won a Super Bowl in the 2020 season. Evans is a baller and a game changer, but, his age may cause a concern.

Evans will be 31 this summer, making him one of the more "older" WRs in the NFL. 31 is considered to be old in the league, especially as a receiver who gets hit non-stop. Evans will likely be asking for a long-term pricey deal, something the Bears may be worried about. But, if Evans agrees to a shorter deal with a lower price, then maybe this would work.
