NFL Network's Adam Rank Explains Why the Montez Sweat Trade was a Great Move by the Bears
After the Bears gave up their 2nd round 2024 draft pick in exchange for Commanders DE Montez Sweat, many fans were unhappy with the deal.
Fans expressed concern, as a 2nd round pick is a lot to give up for a player who had never made it to the Pro Bowl or earned more than 9 sacks in a season.
Though many expressed concerns, NFL Network's and Bears super fan Adam Rank shared his thoughts on the trade, and reveals his feelings on the trade:
As seen in the tweet, Rank sees this trade as a good move. Though the Bears did give up a costly pick, the Bears are still likely to own two early picks.
Some fans may have forgotten, but the Bears own the Panthers first round pick, and by the way both teams have been looking, it is likely the Bears will have two very early picks, possibly even the first two of the 2024 draft.
This trade secures the team of a defensive end who is eyeing his breakout year in Sweat, and after signing his extension, the team will have him for at least 4 more years. This trade did not affect the first round for 2024, so the Bears are still likely to get whoever they want in the draft.
The Bears did the right thing with this trade.
