After securing Cowboys passing game coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., Quinn has now added another assistant to his roster. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Commanders have hired Cowboys assistant Sharrif Floyd as their assistant defensive line coach.
Floyd's recruitment marks the latest departure from the Cowboys' defensive staff since Quinn took the helm at Washington. Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, Floyd retired from the game after three seasons due to injury, leaving behind a legacy highlighted by his standout performance in 2014, where he recorded 42 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one pass defensed.
Throughout his career, Floyd amassed 9.5 sacks, four passes defended, a forced fumble, and 95 total tackles, contributing significantly to the Cowboys' formidable defensive line.
Now, Floyd aims to revitalize the Commanders' defensive line, especially following the departures of Montez Sweat and Chase Young ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
