Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is poised to enter free agency, having showcased strong performance during the past season after a series of team changes over the last three years. With Mayfield reestablishing himself as a reliable starting NFL quarterback, several teams are eager to acquire his services. The Minnesota Vikings are one such team, reportedly willing to go to great lengths to secure Mayfield during the offseason.

In reality, Tampa Bay may not need to worry about losing Baker Mayfield since they have the option to apply the franchise tag, a one-year contract for the 2024 season. The franchise tag window is set to open in late February, allowing teams to designate a single impending free agent to play under a predetermined one-year salary.

It's worth noting that quarterback Kirk Cousins is also heading towards free agency this spring. However, Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kirk Cousins have both expressed interest in the quarterback's return to the team for the upcoming season. Adofo-Mensah has confirmed his intention to bring Cousins back, and the 35-year-old quarterback is already under contract for over $28 million for the next season, according to Spotrac.
