Star running back Saquon Barkley is poised to depart from the New York Giants in free agency this offseason.

While the Giants utilized the franchise tag on Barkley last offseason, they have opted against doing so this time, allowing him to enter free agency for the first time in his career.

Barkley is now strongly linked with a potential move to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reports from both Philadelphia and New York suggest this possibility, with 94.1 WIP's Howard Eskin, an Eagles insider, indicating the interest of the 2022 NFC champions in the running back. Additionally, The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy has reported mutual interest between the parties, suggesting that a move to Philadelphia is a "real possibility."

Barkley, who led the NFL in yards from scrimmage as a rookie in 2018, has amassed 2,892 yards and 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons.

Although the value of running backs has shifted in the NFL, the Eagles might be hesitant to meet Barkley's likely high salary demands, considering their past approach to paying running backs. However, the allure of adding Barkley to their offense might tempt Howie Roseman, especially considering the immediate boost he could provide to the team's offensive capabilities.
