The decisions made by the Bears this offseason will carry significant implications for the future of the organization and its potential for success.

The uncertainty surrounding the futures of Justin Fields and Matt Eberflus is a pivotal factor in determining the team's trajectory. According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, there has been no definitive decision regarding their fates at Halas Hall.

Schultz's belief in the absence of a decision stems from several factors. First, Matt Eberflus was not hired by Kevin Warren, the team's owner, which may contribute to the uncertainty surrounding his future. Additionally, Justin Fields is only entering his fourth year, making it possible to retain him at a reasonable cost for the next few seasons.

It's not surprising that these decisions have not been finalized at this point. The organization's immediate focus remains on the remaining three games of the current season, and they have historically refrained from making significant organizational changes mid-season, including head coach dismissals.

However, there is speculation that both Fields and Eberflus may be on the chopping block. Fields, despite his potential, has not been able to elevate the team's performance, and their playoff hopes are dwindling with a 5-9 record.

On the other hand, Eberflus's second year as head coach has been far from typical. Various issues, such as the departure of Alan Williams, the Chase Claypool incident, and the firing of running backs coach David Walker, have raised questions about his tenure.

Despite these uncertainties, some Bears players remain steadfast in their support of Fields. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney and star wide receiver DJ Moore both express confidence in Fields as the franchise quarterback, questioning why there is any doubt about his future in Chicago. Defensive back Jaylon Johnson is equally vocal in his support, emphasizing the unity of the team behind Fields.

As for Eberflus, general manager Ryan Poles has publicly endorsed him, stating that he sees stability, integrity, and leadership in the coach's daily approach. Whether Kevin Warren shares this sentiment will be revealed in the upcoming offseason.
