Rumors are abuzz about the Bears' strategy as the NFL trade deadline of Oct. 31 looms.

However, recent insights suggest that the decision-makers in Chicago, led by Ryan Poles, may not be as active as some anticipate.

CBS' Jonathan Jones remarked, "Currently, it seems the Bears won't be major players during the trade window. Last year, they traded away Robert Quinn and Roquan Smith, but this year, insiders suggest there's hesitation to part with more players for middle-round draft picks."

There's been chatter about whether the Bears might look to capitalize on potential fire sales from teams like the Broncos, Vikings, and Cardinals. Given the Bears' bleak playoff prospects, it seems counterintuitive for them to be in acquisition mode.

On the selling side, there's been talk around players like Jaylon Johnson, Eddie Jackson, and Darnell Mooney. It presents a chance to capitalize on contracts nearing their end and gain value from older players. Yet, recent chatter suggests the Bears might not be open to dealing Johnson.

Most indications now point to significant roster decisions being postponed until the offseason.

This approach has its logic. The team needs a comprehensive assessment of Justin Fields this season, especially given his recent thumb injury. Trading someone of Johnson's caliber would be a gamble, given the rarity of top-tier cornerbacks.

The headline about Fields' thumb injury reads, "Reports suggest Justin Fields to be sidelined for several weeks due to thumb issue."

It's wise not to rush into offloading players unless it's evident they don't fit into the team's future blueprint. Given the challenges this season, there's no compelling reason to bolster the roster immediately. Such changes are best left for the offseason.

Darnell Mooney's words, echoed by Johnson, summarize the sentiment: The picture will be clearer post-Nov. 1.

So, will any Bears player find a new home by the deadline? Only time will tell.
