Scouting report on S Jaquan Brisker
With the 48th pick in the NFL draft, the Bears selected another secondary player in Penn State's Safety Jaquan Brisker.
Brisker was a 3-year starter at Penn State. His Junior season (his last one) was his best one. He had 63 tackles, but six tackles for a loss, two interceptions, and five passes defended. When you watched his team's games, he was around the football ALL THE TIME. This is clearly the kind of player that Matt Eberflus covets at the safety position.
Here is the scouting report on Gordon via Lance Zierlein of NFL.com:
Athletic safety prospect whose versatility and toughness will endear him to coaches during the evaluation process. Brisker continued to pick up elements of the defensive scheme and his play has steadily transformed from hesitant in 2019 to downright instinctive in 2021. He has the versatility to become a moving chess piece in a variety of coverages and has the size and talent to match up with both "Y" and "F" tight ends. He played with a banged-up shoulder in 2021 so his 2020 tape is a clearer indicator of his run support acumen. Brisker is an ascending talent with the NFL traits to become a long-time starter as a Day 2 draft pick.
Here is the Bleacher report' scouting on Brisker
Brisker is a physical safety who has developed well over his career. He took advantage of the «COVID» year and used the offseason to improve some of the weaker parts of his game. On the field, Brisker is a multi-use safety who does his best work in the box. There, he uses his hands when taking on blocks and has the speed to track and chase down ball carriers.
He can blitz between the tackles as well as on the edge, where he shows a burst and bend. A physical tackler, Brisker uses all of his 204-pound frame to punish anyone with the ball. As he moves back from the line of scrimmage, he can still track and make open-field tackles. In the passing game, he has great awareness in zones and the understanding of his role and the defense as a whole. When playing man, he has good feet in his pedal, although there are times when speed can put him in unfavourable positions.
He has good lateral quickness to play catch technique and does a great job of swiping through the reception point to separate the receiver and the ball.
In conclusion, I really think this was an amazing pick. Exciting times ahead!
