Local Pittsburgh reporter Andrew Fillipponi reported that the Steelers have talked to Aaron Rodgers' agent. And that Arod's representative knows how much the Steelers are willing to pay him. He also added that the Steelers have already laid out a trade package if Rodgers is willing to get there. Cap-space-wise, this makes sense as Pittsburgh may have as much as $65 million in cap room at the start of the new league year.
I don't think this would be wise of the Steelers to offer a haul of players and/or picks to obtain the 38-year-old quarterback. Don't get me wrong, Rodgers is a great football player. One of the most talented throwers of the football to ever lived.
However, he comes with so much more questions. Will he be a distraction? Yes. Will he put himself before the team's success? Probably. Will he get along with the new coaching staff? Unlikely.
If this report is true and the Steelers are looking to acquire him, I wish you the best of luck, Steelers nation because you might need it.
