Tarik Cohen is paving his way back into the NFL.

The Carolina Panthers have welcomed Cohen to their practice squad, as revealed by the running back's wife on her Instagram story this Tuesday. ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms Cohen's impending official signing with the squad set for Wednesday.

Cohen's aspiration to return to the NFL became apparent in late August when his representatives announced his intention to make a comeback. Now, just a few weeks later, he has secured this opportunity, highlighting his determination and resilience, especially in light of his challenging journey.

In a 2020 match-up against the Atlanta Falcons, Cohen sustained an ACL and MCL tear during the third week. This injury caused him to miss the entirety of the 2021 season. Compounding his challenges, as he was prepping for a potential 2022 comeback, he suffered an Achilles tendon rupture on his right leg during an Instagram live workout session. Off the field, Cohen faced personal heartbreak, losing his twin brother, Tyrell, in a tragic incident in 2021.

Drafted in 2017's fourth round by the Bears, Cohen made significant contributions as Chicago's backup RB and chief punt returner from 2017 to 2019. His exceptional performance in 2018 earned him a Pro Bowl selection and a first-team All-Pro recognition as a punt returner. Over 51 games with the Bears, he achieved 15 touchdowns across rushing, receiving, and punt returns.

Carolina's decision to consider Cohen may have ties to Chris Tabor, the Panthers' special teams coordinator, who previously held the same role for the Bears from 2018 to 2021.
