The Chicago Bears celebrated two significant victories on Christmas Eve. Not only did they triumph over the Arizona Cardinals with a score of 27-16 at Soldier Field, but their prospects of securing the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, courtesy of the Carolina Panthers, have also improved.
The New England Patriots delivered an upset against the Denver Broncos on Sunday night, virtually guaranteeing the top pick for Chicago. The Patriots now have four wins this season, which is two more than the Panthers.
This development leaves the Bears just one Panthers loss away from clinching the No. 1 pick for the second consecutive year. At the very least, Chicago is assured no worse than the second overall selection. To achieve this, Carolina would need to win all their remaining games while the Cardinals lose theirs.
Looking ahead, the Panthers are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team in contention for the postseason, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a division rival striving to secure the division championship.
According to the New York Times, Chicago currently holds a 96 percent probability of securing the first overall pick in the NFL draft.
