The Chicago Bears brought in TE James O'Shaughnessy for a visit on Monday, per Aaron Wilson.

He has played for the Kansas City Chiefs (20152016), the New England Patriots (2017) and most recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars (20172021).

He started 40 games in his career so far, including 13 starts in 2020. O'Shaughnessy is listed at 6"4, 245 pounds. While his receiving stats are nothing to write home about, he is a very capable red zone threat and he is most effective as a run blocker.

This would be a solid signing for GM Ryan Poles since we know how much OC Luke Getsy likes to use multiple tight ends in the running game. However, I can't help but wonder why are the Bears still looking at tight end. I get that he would be a depth player, but the Bears already have Cole Kmet on the roster, they re-signed Jesper Horsted last week and two days ago, they sign FA Ryan Griffin.

However, I have nothing against O'Shaughnessy and I actually think he is a very solid player. He is from the Chicago suburb area. Naperville, Illinois, to be more exact. Bears fans might be familiar with him since he played his college ball at Illinois State. This would totally make sense for him to come back home to play for the Bears.

Here are a few clips from his time in Jacksonville:
