The case for Jensen
He is coming off arguably his best season in 2021. He was the centerpiece of the Bucs great o-line. He was extremely respected amongst his peers. Jensen has not missed a game since he joined the Bucs in 2018. He almost never missed a single snap! With the center position being very weak in free agency, Jensen will be in high demand. He would be a match made in heaven in Chicago. We have heard many times during interviews from Matt Eberflus and Ryan Poles that they want an extremely physical team with toughness all over the board. I could not think of a player that fits this role better than Ryan Jensen.
Is it a possible scenario?
Getting Jensen would likely require his future team to make him the highest-paid center in football. The deal could be anywhere from 2 to 4 years. We would be talking about a contract higher than $15 million annually. The Bucs would most likely love to bring him back, but they are in a horrible cap situation right now. They are projected to have only around 19 million in cap space. Let's keep in mind that they have an immense list of free agents like WR Chris Godwin, RG Alex Cappa, S Jordan Whitehead, DE Jason Pierre-Paul to name a few. I think the Bears will most likely make a push for Ryan Jensen and he could really change to philosophy of this team. Make it happen Ryan Poles!
