The Bears are presently in the process of interviewing Zac Robinson, who currently serves as the pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Rams. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported the interview, which took place on Thursday.
Robinson's coaching career has been exclusively based in Los Angeles, where he has been under the guidance of Sean McVay, including winning a Super Bowl championship during the 2021 season. Robinson has held positions as an assistant quarterbacks coach in 2019 and 2021, as well as an assistant wide receivers coach in 2020, before earning promotions to pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2022.
Throughout his tenure as an assistant or quarterbacks coach, Robinson has had the opportunity to work with notable quarterbacks such as Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, Baker Mayfield, and Carson Wentz. Although Robinson may appear less experienced compared to other candidates the Bears have interviewed, his five years under the mentorship of Sean McVay make him a compelling and intriguing candidate.
The Bears have already interviewed or have plans to interview several candidates for the offensive coordinator position, including Shane Waldron (Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator), Klint Kubiak (San Francisco 49ers passing game coordinator), Liam Coen (Kentucky offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach), Greg Olson (Seahawks quarterbacks coach), Greg Roman (former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator), Thomas Brown (Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator), Marcus Brady (Philadelphia Eagles senior offensive assistant), Kliff Kingsbury (USC quarterbacks coach), and now Zac Robinson.
