The Chicago Bears have bolstered their quarterback depth by signing Brett Rypien to a one-year deal, as announced by the team on March 13th.

Rypien, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Boise State in 2019, previously spent time with the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and New York Jets. He comes from a football family, being the nephew of former NFL quarterback Mark Rypien.

During his time at Boise State, Rypien showcased his talent, completing over 64% of his passes for over 13,000 yards and 90 touchdowns. Despite limited playing time in the NFL, he has shown promise and professionalism, earning praise from Rams head coach Sean McVay for his preparation and dedication.

With the addition of Rypien, questions arise about the future of Nathan Peterman as the Bears' veteran backup. While the starting quarterback position for the Bears in 2024 is yet to be determined, Rypien's experience could provide valuable mentorship to younger quarterbacks on the roster, such as Tyson Bagent.

Rypien expressed his readiness to contribute and adapt to various roles within the team, emphasizing the importance of continual improvement and focus in his football journey.
