Flashback to a few months ago the expected 2023 NFL Free Agent wide receiver class looked to be legendary for the Chicago Bears to target a weapon for second-year quarterback Justin Fields. With names like DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, Terry McLaurin, and Deebo Samuel.

Now after this weekend all of the trade rumors and stalled negotiations are no longer a question with all of those players locking up multi-year extensions.

The Bears did draft Velus Jones Jr who they expected to instantly have a major impact, along with Darnell Mooney easily becoming one of Fields' favorite targets. These two spent much time together this off-season building chemistry on where they ended off after the 2021 campaign. But with a surplus of cap space that will headline the 2023 off-season for the Bears, the biggest question will be who can they target to add to the supporting staff for Justin Fields.

Current Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Diontae Johnson is truly the only big target left for the expected 2023 free agent class. Coming off his first Pro Bowl nomination this past season Johnson looks to increase his stock in this upcoming season as he looks to find a multi-year deal. Johnson's stock is certainly trending upwards as he looks to prove that he is worthy of the WR1 money.

In just 3 short seasons in the league, Johnson has improved his numbers drastically every year. This past season Johnson recorded 169 targets, which was enough for second in the league, while also recording 107 receptions,1161 yards receiving, and 8 TDs.

The Bears would certainly love to welcome the current Steeler with open arms but many questions remain still during this next year. Will the Bears be in the market for a big name receiver? and ultimately the biggest question, Will the Steelers even let Johnson see the open market?
